  • Alcohol

Alcohol is the most widely used drug across the world, enjoyed by millions of people in various social settings. Despite its legal status and widespread acceptance, alcohol is a harmful substance and the risks of using it increase with excess consumption.

  • Club and Party Drugs

Many of the same drugs can be found at house parties or raves at clubs, often referred to as 'Party Drugs'. They are normally used to enhance social experiences and intensify emotions or sensations. Common club drugs include: MDMA, Cocaine, GHB, Methamphetamine, LSD and Ketamine.

  • Spice

Spice is a nickname for a range of powerful substances called 'Synthetic Cannabinoid Receptor Antagnoists'. It has a flaky texture, green in colour and is often sold as a herbal smoking blend or liquid for use in e-cigarettes or vapes.

  • Benzos

Benzodiazepines, commonly known as 'benzos', are often used for their mood-enhancing and analgesic effects. The most commonly used benzos are Valium (diazepam) and Xanax (alprazolam).

  • Crack

Crack is a powerful and more potent form of cocaine that is usually smoked or injected. Crack is a solid or 'rock' form of cocaine. It results in a near-immediate high that is more intense compared to cocaine in powder form.

  • Opioids

Opioids, which are made from opium (a natural compound found in the opium poppy) are available both legally and illegally in the UK. Opioids are known for their high addiction potential and intense withdrawal symptoms.

How it works

What happens after you contact us

After your initial referral to Inspire - this could be online, via a professional or organisation, or through one of our hubs - our team will be in touch to arrange your first session with us.

Your first session with an Inspire worker

This is where you'll meet your Inspire worker and give you the opportunity to talk about your story and discuss the support you might need. You can share as much or as little as you like, at your own pace.

Your support options

Your Inspire worker will discuss the various forms of support that are available to you. From advice and information, prescribed medication, detox programs, one-on-one support, or participation in a group of people with similar experiences, we'll help you explore all your options.

Creating a plan that works for you

Together, with your Inspire worker, we'll agree a programme that feels manageable, achievable and entirely based on your choices. This could include activities to enhance your wellbeing, or if you need help with housing or job searches, we can support with that as well.

Frequently asked questions

We understand you may have questions about our support. Below, we've answered some of the most frequently asked questions to help provide some guidance.

What types of alcohol and drug support can Inspire help me choose from?

Inspire offers a range of alcohol and drug support options across West Northamptonshire, including harm reduction, clinical treatment, recovery community activities and specialist services. We’ll explain each option in simple, clear language so you can choose the type of support that feels right for your goals and circumstances.

What is the difference between harm reduction, treatment and recovery support?

Harm reduction focuses on staying safer and reducing risks; treatment offers structured programmes, clinical care and prescribing; and recovery support helps you connect with others and build confidence. Whether you’re looking for alcohol support or help with drugs or help to sustain changes you have made in your alcohol and drug use, we’ll help you understand each approach so you can decide what feels most helpful for you.

Can I get alcohol and drug help near me even if I’m not sure which substances to explore support for?

Yes. You can access alcohol and drug help through Inspire’s hubs in Northampton, Daventry and wider West Northamptonshire. If you use different substances or aren’t sure where to begin, our team will guide you gently through your options and help you explore what’s most relevant without judgement.

Do you offer specialist alcohol or drug support for substances like opioids, benzos, crack or party drugs?

We do. Our specialist workers provide tailored alcohol and drug support based on the substances you use, including opioids, ketamine, benzos, synthetic cannabinoids (Spice), crack, and club or party drugs. You’ll get practical guidance, harm‑reduction tools and reliable information to help you stay safer and make informed choices.

What happens once I choose the type of support I’m interested in?

Once you’ve explored your options, an Inspire worker will help you take the next step, whether that’s harm‑reduction advice, clinical care, group sessions or individual support. Together, you’ll create a plan based on your goals, whether you’re seeking alcohol support, help with drugs, safer‑use strategies or structured treatment. We’ll move at your pace, and you’ll always have someone to check in with.
