Brackley Drugs and Alcohol Support Event Details
- Location: Brackley Medical Centre
- Date: Monday 21 September
- Time: 6pm to 8pm
The event aims to create a free, safe and non-judgemental space where young people and their families can talk about alcohol and drugs, or have a confidential conversation if they are looking for support related to a young person's alcohol or drug use.
As well as an information stall in the main waiting area of the GP practice, the service will also have access to a private room where confidential discussions can take place.
Early Support and Practical Advice
Cllr Laura Couse, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, said:
There are very valid and real concerns about alcohol and drug use, particularly amongst some young people. We need to act early, make support easy to reach and ensure young people and families can ask for help without fear of judgement.
This event brings confidential advice and practical support into the heart of the community, giving people the opportunity to have that first conversation before problems escalate and cause lasting harm.
She added:
Starting a conversation about alcohol or drug use can be difficult. This event offers a safe and supportive space where young people and their families can speak confidentially, get practical advice, or simply find out what help is available.
I would encourage any young person or family with worries or questions to drop in. It is free, confidential, completely non-judgemental and supportive, and that first conversation could help prevent problems from escalating and causing lasting harm.
Making Support Accessible in the Community
Andrea Knowles, Senior Operations Manager at Inspire, said:
We are passionate about ensuring that our services are available and accessible to everyone in our community.
This drop-in event is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to meet the team, find out more about the support we offer, and let us know what matters most to them. We are looking forward to welcoming people on the evening and having meaningful conversations about how we can continue to meet the needs of our communities.
